Operating Instructions
- Before starting the ventilation system, if you have a fireplace, you should close the damper before turning on the fan units.
- Turn off your air conditioner or heater. You do not want to have them on at the same time, but you can co-ordinate the use of them to benefit each other.
- One or more windows should be kept open at all times. Open the desired windows about 6 - 12 inches. A house fan creates a vacuum effect in your home. You must have a window open a least partially in order for the fan to be able to draw the air inside.
- Turn on your fan units.
- Wait about 2 minutes. You will be able to feel a refreshing breeze.
Smart Tips
The time to use the Smart Breeze System whole house fan system is whenever the temperature outside is more comfortable than the temperature inside your home. The ideal time would be the evenings, nights and morning hours.
- For a calm breeze: Open more than one window per room.
- For a strong breeze: Open only one window (no more than 6 - 12 inches) Remember, less window equals more breeze.
- To FEEL a strong breeze: Open a window next to the location you would be sitting, standing or sleeping.
- Multi level home: To feel the air circulation in the 1st floor or to bring the air from downstairs to the upper level/levels, open the down stairs windows and close all the upstairs windows.
- On real hot days, by using the Smart Breeze System before using your air-conditioner you will be cooling a cool house and attic instead of a warm house and HOT attic. This will save wear and tear on your air-conditioner.
- Warm your home: On those days when the temperature outside is warmer than the inside.
- You can experiment to see what works best for you, your comfort level, and the layout of your home.
